Macro Photography - Melittia sangaica (unique & rare moths)
In today's post I want to share some photos of beautiful, unique and rare moths. Why do I say that? because this moth has a beautiful color combination and has a unique shape, even at a glance it looks similar to wasps or also to fly species. Besides being beautiful and unique, this moth is also fairly rare. Because before that I had never found this moth at all. This is my first time & I hope to find it again in the future or with a more interesting type of moth.
Moths are insects that are closely related to butterflies and both belong to the order Lepidoptera. And the moth that I share is a moth in the genus Melittia called Melittia sangaica.
"Melittia is a genus of moths in the family Sesiidae. Wikipedia".
Like moths in general, Melittia is also a moth that is relatively wild and shy. When I find this moth I have to keep trying to chase it until the moth gets tired and rests by standing in the wild leaves.
When he felt comfortable standing on the leaf then I was able to shoot him. Otherwise my efforts would be in vain instead I would just keep pacing back and forth in the bushes. That day I still remember very well how my clothes were wet with sweat because I kept chasing this unique & rare moth. Then some photos of the moth that I mean I have uploaded below. Please enjoy :)
