Macro Photography - Damselfly & Moths
This afternoon around 16:50 I made observations in my own paddy field. Apart from wanting to check the growth conditions of my rice which is currently in the vegetative phase, I also want to observe some of the insect species that are there.
And it turns out that in the rice fields not only live several species of insects that are pests, but there are also other species that also live there, such as dragonflies. And especially I encountered many species of damselfly dragonflies being there.
Damselfly is a flying insect in the order Odonata which is closely related to dragonflies but has a smaller size than dragonflies in general. Damselfly also has several color variants and two of them I want to share on this post.
The first is the Blue-tailed damselfly from the Coenagrionidae family. As the name implies, this dragonfly has a predominant blue color, in fact it almost covers all parts of its body, consisting of eyes, back & stomach, also at the tip of its tail there is also a bit of blue which makes this damselfly look very attractive.
And the second damselfly which is also still in the Coenagrionidae family, but this one is yellow with a blue tail which also makes a beautiful color combination.
As I said above, in the rice fields there are also insect species that are pests, such as a beautiful moth with the binomial name Utetheisa pulchella. This red-spotted moth lays its eggs on the leaves of the rice plants, then after a week the eggs hatch and become larvae that are ready to eat the rice plants by entering the stems of the rice plants. This is certainly not desirable for farmers, therefore farmers often spray with insecticides to control several types of insect pests that attack rice plants.
