FungiFriday - Fluted bird's nest (Cyathus striatus)
This is my contribution to #FungiFriday by @ewkaw
On today's edition of FungiFriday 25 August 2023 I have prepared some photos of a bird's nest mushroom that I found some time ago in the areca nut plantation area. Bird's nest mushroom or mushroom with the binomial name Cyathus striatus is a genus of Cyathus mushrooms in the family Nidulariaceae.
In my area this mushroom doesn't always grow every season but at certain seasons & that's usually in the middle or at the end of the rainy season. I myself found this mushroom growing on wood that had previously been burned, when the rainy season came the wood became wet and overgrown with this bird's nest fungus.
Bird's nest mushroom is a unique mushroom because each growth phase has a different shape. Like when this mushroom is at an early age of growth, it looks like a cup covered with fine brown hairs.
Then when the growth is maximized, this mushroom grows in a larger cup shape accompanied by several eggs in it. And it can be seen in some of the photos below.

Most unusual looking mushroom, great photography and sharing.
Not one found on our continent, most interesting learning about it.
