Sumatran gossamerwing (Euphaea variegata)
Euphaea variegata (Rambur, 1842) is a species of damselfly belonging to the family Euphaeidae. This species is endemic to Indonesia since it is only found in Sumatra, Java, and Bali.
In Java and Bali, it is commonly called the Sundanese gossamerwing; in Sumatra, it is called the Sumatran gossamerwing. This damselfly species lives in exclusive habitats such as rocky river environments in deep forests. This means that not all natural environments Euphaea variegata can survive.
Overall, the body of Euphaea variegata is dark; only the thorax has green stripes, and the nose is green too.
I had a great moment catching one of them; Wide-open wings are something this rarely does. So I had the rare opportunity to observe how the top of the black webbed wings combined with metallic green.
