Hey nature observers! This afternoon, I noticed a spider ambushing its prey. It was a spitting spider (Scytodes sp.) with its prey being a fly.

Spitting spiders are almost physically similar to wolf spiders. The difference is that the spitting spider can be recognized by its bright orange physique with stripes that mimic a tiger.

It does not build cobwebs like orb-weaving spiders. This spider lives in weed leaves and makes a kind of fence with a little coil of silk web. One could say it was a warning that it was its territory.

Most spiders have jaws with deadly bites, and the spitting spider also uses the same weapon to immobilize its prey.

Another interesting fact about a spitting spider is that when setting an ambush, it wraps its prey in a silk web. Yes, it was a clever way of making it absolutely impossible for the prey to move.
