Pink-blue Jewel (Rhinocypha fenestrata)
The gurgling sound of the rocky river breaks the silence of the Sidomulyo jungle. The Blang Kolam waterfall flowing through the Rayap River can be heard faintly from a distance. The Rayap River, filled with rocks, is home to various Sumatran Odonata species.
I noticed colorful damselflies flying low here and there on the surface of the Rayap River. Rhinocypha fenestrata, commonly called the pink-blue jewel, is one of the many damselflies that inhabit the Rayap River environment.
R. fenestrata is a medium-sized damselfly with characteristics of a blue and pink patterned thorax, a black tail, and brown-black patterned wings with pink stripes. This is truly the most beautiful damselfly I have ever seen!
