Monomad: Sapphire-eyed Spreadwing

A few days ago I caught some little damselflies in the marshes south of my city. That damselfly commonly called the sapphire-eyed spreadwing (Lestes praemorsus). The marshes weren’t exactly quiet; I could hear the frogs singing nonstop. They were calling me with their melodies.

That’s where I noticed these little damselflies hunting for leafhoppers. They would fly low, bump into grass stalks—they were snatching the leafhoppers—and then perch for a while before going back on patrol. It was a simple sight, but it was fascinating to me.
