Monomad: Lycidas

It is said that Lycidas scutulatus is a jumper native to Australia. This is hard to believe because I found this little guy in Aceh (Sumatra), an island thousands of miles away from Australia.

Thousands or hundreds of years ago in the port of Tasmania, there was a jumper who accidentally crawled over a cargo crate. The workers then moved the crate onto the sailing ship deck.

The ship eventually sailed thousands of miles to India. After several days of sailing, they decided to stop at a port on the tip of the island of Sumatra to load pepper and buy some supplies.

The jumper, perhaps seasick, tried to jump ashore because he wanted to vomit. He was hungry and decided to hunt for prey.

The whistle blew and the anchor was raised. The ship slowly left the port.

The jumper missed the ship. That's when he decided to stay in Sumatra and mate with a local female jumper until he had many offspring there.

I think this is a plausible story, as to why there are spiders native to Australia found in Southeast Asia. LOL!

This is another entry I submitted for the daily #monomad challenge.
