Monomad: Hedgehog Fungus

I submitted some of these macro photos for the current #monomad challenge.

I noticed there was fungus growing on the dead wood. At first, it didn't attract my attention due to its strange and ugly shape. I just tried taking some photos for fun, and the results were unexpected. I think this is too good to just throw away. The hedgehog fungus (Elmerina sclerodontia)—I can't think of a more suitable name for this mushroom—has a hard surface and is rough like a cleaning brush. I'm sure many mushroom lovers will simply ignore this. But I noticed something else about this mushroom; like seeing a beautiful work of nature.
