Monomad: Barn Spider
Here's another entry for the #monomad challenge hosted by @monochromes.
There are probably countless species of spiders in Asia, and Neoscona is one genus of them. Although Neoscona are categorized as orb-weaver spiders, they do not build large webs like other orb-weaver spiders do. This type of spider chooses the narrow spaces in the leaves of weeds as a hiding place as well as a place to ambush prey.
The barn spider you see here is a species of spider belonging to the genus Neoscona.
It had a pair of pedipalps that looked like boxing gloves. The spider has eyes that are very small and almost invisible. But that doesn't mean it isn't alert to the dangers around it.
Its long and strong legs are quite effective in protecting itself from enemy attacks, in addition to having strong, sharp jaws.
I hope that even though these images have been edited in a monochromatic tone, you can still get an idea of what a spider actually looks like in its original color.
Nature is beautiful. I love watching insects.
