Monomad: A Solitary Bee and a Neighbor

Some bees tend to live in colonies or smaller societies, while some are solitary. I would not dare approach a colony—except sweat bees—because they tend to be aggressive. They won't compromise with you. You are not a beekeeper anyway; it would be better for you to stay away from them. Solitary bees, conversely, are more complacent, although they will still sting if they feel threatened.

This one is a solitary bee. I noticed it perched on a dry twig one afternoon. That's so quiet and calm. It shares its space with its neighbor, a humpback fly. They are not bothered by each other. They are the best examples of living together as neighbors.
