Macro Shots: Zigzag Ladybug
Zigzag ladybugs (Cheilomenes sexmaculata) are common in Indonesia. Wherever there are bushes or grassy areas, you will easily find them. But even so, this is something that is always interesting to capture.
It is so small and cute—only the size of a watermelon seed. I noticed it was busy pacing back and forth on the leaves, and yeah, it looked like a moving watermelon seed.
The shield was shiny as if it had been oiled, and there were black zigzag marks on the shield. I noticed its jaws wouldn't stop chewing something. Maybe it was an aphid that ended up in its jaws. Indeed, ladybugs are very greedy when hunting aphids, and they don't want to share their prey with you.
These pics were edited in mobile Lightroom with significant changes to the background, but of course without losing the original orange color of the ladybug.
