FungiFriday: Wild mushrooms in my yard

It's been a long time since I went on a mushroom walk, and this has impacted the fat in my stomach, which is piling up. This month is the best time for a mushroom walk since it rains continuously. But I had no idea how to invite my friends to hunt mushrooms in the woods because they had other activities, so I was forced to dig through my old picture files. Luckily I got some and will share them here.

Last year, there was a pile of unused boards and logs in our narrow yard. The wood gradually rotted and became damp due to the continuous pouring rain. I found some mushrooms growing there.

The magenta rustgill (Gymnopilus dilepis) sticks out alone. It was a juvenile mushroom with a rusty blush fruit body. Mature mushrooms are normally dark red, scaly, and much rougher.

There were also white log mushrooms or Lentinus squarrosulus. This fungus commonly appears in dense masses. But I found only a few. The mushroom is edible, and I have tasted it. I think I can tell you that the texture of this mushroom is a bit tough. So I never eat it again. Maybe it needs a special seasoning to make it softer when you chew it.
