FungiFriday: Small chanterelle (Cantharellus minor)
This is a colony of tall yellow mushrooms found in the Sumatran jungle during a mushroom walk in November 2023. I tried to identify the fungus, and as a result, I was able to conclude that it was Cantharellus minor. But then doubts arose because, after I searched on Google, C. minor is a fungus native to Eastern North America. Is it possible that fungi can migrate from America to Asia? It makes sense that this mushroom species is a cultivable variety. But this one? I don't think so, because it is a wild mushroom.
It's just that for now, I still think that it's Cantharellus minor. I would appreciate it if anyone could refute me. Yes, that's understandable because my knowledge of mycology is so minor.
I found these mushrooms growing in fertile and moist soil. Mold tends to grow in groups and even in dense masses. The fruit body of the mushroom is pale yellow with a tall stem. The mushroom cap resembles a trumpet flower petal, with wide gills like an oyster mushroom.
What beautiful photographs, dear friend @akukamaruzzaman, and what beautiful mushrooms you have found. I love this colony, its shapes and its striking colors
Thank you very much for letting us know this beauty
have a nice day
