#FungiFriday: Shaggy Ink Caps, Sometime in 2023
I almost forgot that it was Friday. The weather has been so hot lately that my body and mind have lost all enthusiasm. I wouldn't even know that today is Friday if my son hadn't told me. Soon after, I remembered about the #FungiFriday challenge.
Oh, damn! I have to tell you that it hasn't rained in my town for almost two months, so I have to forget for a moment about mushroom walks to the woods, at least until the rain comes again.
However, that doesn't mean I have to miss out on the #FungiFriday challenge this time because I still have some stock of mushrooms that I captured throughout 2023.
Here are some pics of the shaggy ink cap, or Coprinus comatus, which is identified as the scientific name of this fungus.
All of them are young mushrooms, and they appear in clusters on rotten areca nut fronds.
Those snow-white caps, none of which were seen to be fluffy yet, If I came the next day, maybe they wouldn't look like this. But I actually prefer the fact that they are young shaggy ink caps. I think the young mushrooms look prettier than the mature ones.
When the heat is very intense, you don't feel like it, luckily your son reminded you that it was Friday; I understand your situation that you describe, here in the city where I live Corrientes-Argentina it is unbearably hot,
How great that you went out in search of mushrooms, you have found a beautiful mushroom ¨Coprinus comatus¨
