FungiFriday: Phoenix Oyster (Pleurotus pulmonarius)

These photos were taken in the last week of July 2023. I remember that at that time, I received a WhatsApp message from my friend. He asked me to pick him up at his house. The location was quite remote, approximately 11 kilometers east of Lhokseumawe City, so I politely refused. But then he tried to convince me that there would be a surprise prepared for me. Damn! He tried to bribe me, and I couldn't refuse it.

Without further ado, I immediately asked about the surprise he intended when I arrived there. He just smiled and immediately led me to a garden in the back yard.

It wasn't anything special but it wasn't too bad; there were just hordes of mushrooms covering large pieces of wood. Do you know what my reaction was at that time? I pretended to scream hysterically and excitedly.

The Phoenix oyster (Pleurotus pulmonarius); It's a kind of mushroom that I have seen a lot, and have even tasted it with noodles on several occasions. The texture is like chewing dry beef jerky and, in my opinion, the taste of the mushroom is not as delicious as straw mushrooms. But nevertheless I thank him. That's not a kind bad bribe!
