FungiFriday: Barnacle Fungus (Chaetocalathus ?)

These photos were taken by me in April 2023 while on a mushroom walk expedition in the Sidomulyo sub-district, North Aceh. The rainforest near the Blang Kulam waterfall is a natural habitat for wild mushrooms.

I noticed there were lots of logs scattered on the river bank. The pieces of wood may have been washed away by floodwater during heavy rain.

The barnacle fungus in dense masses was seen attached to the rotting logs.

The mushroom is so small with a dark brown cap; the juvenile is white; it has cream-colored gills and no stem.

Could it be a species of fungus belonging to the genus Chaetocalathus?
