Dieunomia nevadensis: immersed in a paradise of nectar and pollen

It's really fun to be able to observe how insect pollinators do their work, and I had the opportunity to capture that moment with my phone camera.

These were taken at the beginning of June; at that time, there was a Nevada nomia bee (Dieunomia nevadensis) busy sucking groundsel (Senecio vulgaris) flower nectar.

Not only was she content to suck up nectar, but she also greedily fed on the flower pollen. She even ignored an ugly giant who had been watching her eat lunch.

Look at how she buried her head in there. She really enjoyed her lunch!

Liquid nectar even stuck to her beard. Slrrrppppp! That's so sweet, for sure!

Now it's time to wipe her beard with her hands—oh no!—but with her legs. Because no one gave her an apron.

The nectar was too sweet for her to notice you, just like when a very hungry human sees food. Beautiful shot
