In the media concern about environment is highlighted all over the world. It seems that our politicians, experts and super rich are very serious about this topic. There are lots of debates, seminars, rallies being organized and there are so much slogans written everywhere that it would have changed our environment to a satisfactory level. But, nothing is happening. Things are getting worse. Do we really have any solution or are these people just pretending to save our world?

In fact they don’t have any solution. They are just beating about the bush. They are just chanting environment protection every time without any concrete solution. Most of them say that we need to stop cutting of trees, afforestation, plantation, use of green technology, recycling of waste etc. These politicians, celebrities, beaurocrats and experts are just showing the ways which are not better than building castles in the air. Let us examine everything one by one.

Stop cutting tree: Yes this is the solution but who cares? Politicians always think about growth of economy. Politicians, rich people, celebrities and even common man desire for big houses, wide roads, big monuments, bigger playgrounds for fun and lands free of shrubs, natural plantation and vegetation, so that artificial gardens may be built over there. As human beings we have acquired big piece of lands for our houses, factories, shopping centers, parks, golf courses and so many things. To meet requirement of land for growing demands of land, cutting of trees becomes inevitable.

Afforestation and plantation of trees sound very nice. But, no one asks this question that where trees will be planted. We have a very big population. I am not saying about a single country. It is about the whole world. We are almost 8 billion which is not a small number. For this vast population we need lots of agriculture land so that we may feed all of them. We need more houses, factories, mines and resources. Everything comes from earth. So, we have acquired a big portion of land area of the earth. So, we don’t have free lands where we may plant trees. Nature can grow trees itself. It doesn’t need our help to do so. Land area is limited. We can’t increase it. That’s why afforestation is just a daydream being sold by the leaders to save their vote bank.

Sustainable development: Development and environment protection are the opposite things. In the name of development we are clearing forests, encroaching rivers, destroying hills and polluting our environment. What we call development? Are big concrete structures, wide roads, cemented land and artificial gardens are collectively called development? If yes, then how can we save the environment while conserving environment?

Use of green technology: One solution they provide for stopping carbon emission is to adapt green technology. They are forcing people to buy electric cars. They are not improving public transport, but are committed towards electric cars. Electric cars seems very innocent. But, they consume electricity and electricity comes from hydro-electric energy which requires construction of big dams or use of burning of coal somewhere far away from cities. It also requires mining of lithium from earth. So, where is the green technology in this?

They say about recycling of waste. But, how many of them recycle waste? They have too much money with which they produce too much waste and consume too much energy. So, their deeds do not confirm with whatever they say. They don’t want to compromise with their luxurious lifestyle. That’s why they have no solution of environment degradation. Environment protection requires something more. In fact, it requires no action from our side.
