Yes, this is a skill you can learn. I've seen some impressive feats of memory before. Would it surprise you that there was a game of cards that I'd win by memorising the entire deck? What I had, what had been played and so how the opponent would respond.

Wow, that's a skill... Did you take a long time to learn it.
Anyway, I'm not doing so officially, but I'm having her teach me what she learned. How to read once, read fast while retaining all words in your brain, and how to memorize things quickly.

I don't recall specifically training that skill, it just happened as I played this particular game and figured out how to win. Maybe a few days - but back then I was a young and fit teen. Now, not so much. Like many things, I expect that it'll come back if I train it again. I heard it's quite common for people to remember the entire Koran. I've heard of a few people doing that for the New Testament of the Bible, but they are much rarer.
Best skills are the ones you train without feeling that you're training them. This is really cool!

Most people who have memorized the whole qur'an have spent years memorizing it. (Almost anyone can do so in only 2 years if they studied a bit every day.)
I haven't memorized the Qur'an and I can follow some reading it in front of me, predicting the next line 80% of the time.
