In Libya the reason you get an iPhone isn't functionality. It's the ...

... Prestige.

Here, people in high-prestige workplaces usually use #iphone instead of #android phones. Holding one in a crowd sends "Look, I'm Rich" vibes. Culture is funny. #crossculture #leofinance #stemgeeks

There are many exceptions, but generally that's how I saw iPhone vs Android thing here in Libya. Only people who can afford extra have iPhones, or those who really need one exclusive functionality.

It's important on which level one is make it decision in regards of a phone.

I have my assumptions, but worries like what?

(I do like to have an iPad for art eventually, I hear it's much better for art than any Non-Galaxy-S8 android phone.)

Maybe I'm too deep in IT and my experience with Android is old, but the quality of Android version of other manufactures besides Google are pretty horrifying.

Samsung's is actually good, I tried both their A-series phones and Galaxy Tab S6Lite, but I can't say anything about other manufacturers, because I know for sure that Chinese stuff has bad quality.

Well, iCloud does sound really convenient and I hear Apples has a way to locate it if it got ever lost. That'd be nice!

Too expensive though, at least in my country.

Once I lost the phone drunk in a cab, and in morning after I was wondering there it was. It was still in the cab, but I had any option to reach the driver, so I simply drove to the location of cab. As cab driver astonishingly asked me, how I would know about phone location...

ChatGPT says: Gatekeeping refers to the act of controlling access to a certain activity, community, knowledge, or identity. It involves individuals or groups asserting authority to determine who is allowed to participate or be considered a part of a specific domain. ..

Gatekeeping can manifest in various contexts, such as social groups, online communities, professional fields, and cultural spheres.

And that's what I do understand under Gate Keeping.

How does gatekeeping relate to the iPhone topic?

People may prefer to only associate with or be owners of iPhones?

As @master-lamps said, gatekeeping is the act of a community to not allow people below their standards to do the same things they do.

Someone Gate Keeping iPhones would shun others who think they're below his standard to have it or spread rumors that discourage new iPhone owners.

While I don't want an iPhone, I'd like to get an iPad eventually. I heard seems more stable for art than an Android. Right now, I can't afford to spend extra on an iPad so there's that.

One of the best resources I found about this: http://brad.site/reviews/ipads.html

I think that's what the Apple products are already known for. 😆 Still it's Android all the way for me.

While I'm Android all the way for a phone, I'd like an iPad if I had the opportunity because I heard it's a great device for art and I've seen a lot of comparison reviews.

If it's better than a Wacom or other tablets then go for it.

It's a close second compared to Wacom, I think having a multipurpose device is better than having drawing-only for me.

It's not a priority for me though, there are multiple similarly priced things I want to have that are higher in my priority list.
