Games I Want to Play in 2024

I play video games at a slower-than-average pace. I don't play games every day. My average is probably 7 hours a week. That's healthy in my opinion. There are weeks I play a lot more but also weeks in which I don't touch video games at all.

Assuming I'll stay at this pace, I have 350-400 hours of playtime this year. That sounds like a lot, but this amounts to a full run of 4-5 games only. So I'll be choosing my main games of the year perfectly.

So, below is list of games I want to play this year.

Games in this list aren't necessarily 2024 releases, most aren't. It's just that those are the games I'd like to Play & hopefully Finish this year.

Steam Deck

This is not a video game but a piece of hardware. I watched many videos about Steam Deck and I'm saving a budget to get one. إن شاء الله. It's not available in my country, but there are a few stores that import it here in a while.

If I managed to buy a Steam Deck it'll probably double my gaming time as I imagine it'll take away from my YouTube time for gaming.

Trails of Cold Steel IV

This is the last game of the Cold Steel saga and the only game I have left of it. Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV is a turn-based RPG. If I finished playing it, إن شاء الله, I might go back to the Crossbell arc games: Trails from Zero and Azure.
Estimated Playtime: 100~ Hours-

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim

I found this game in many best RPGs list and while I don't know anything about its story or gameplay, I'm already sold on the visuals alone! The art is beautiful and unique. I only needed to hear praises of the whole package to become interested.
Estimated Playtime: 35~ Hours-

Ni no Kuni

Is a beautiful looking RPG and I heard great things about it. I already own this game in my backlog and played the first hour of it. It has the magical visuals of Studio Ghibli and I'm excited to see how the story will go. There's also a monster collecting aspect to it. I haven't reached those parts yet.
Estimated Playtime: 50~ Hours-

Sea of Stars

I'd love to play this spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger and other 16Bit RPGs. I heard nothing but good things about Sea of Stars and I know this developer cares so much about their products... Maybe I'll have to play The Messenger first, as Sea of Stars is a prequel to that game.
Estimated Playtime: 30~ Hours-

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

The second installment of FFVII:R is a game I Want to play but I don't think I'll get to play it in 2024. I played the first part back when I had a PS4. I'm not thinking of getting a PS5, so I'm waiting for FFVII Rebirth's release for PC and I don't think it'll be ported this year.

Final Fantasy VII was one of my favorite games when I played it with my brother when we were younger, and seeing the remake makes me happy. I'm still mixed about the changes they made to the story, though.
Estimated Playtime: ???-

Assassin's Creed: Mirage

An Assassin Creed game that goes back to the series roots gameplay-wise? Check! ... It's has modern graphics and quality of life features? Check! ... It's set in 9th century Bagdad? Check!

This is the only Assassin's Creed game I've been interested in since Assassin Creed IV: Black Flag. (I'm interested in Origins' but only its setting, not its gameplay.) I decided to eventually play it when I saw a video featuring Al-Azan in this game.
Estimated Playtime: 20~ Hours-

Stardew Valley

This is a popular Farming and Village life simulator, created by one person and has a huge community supporting it!

I heard so much about Stardew Valley and how it became the benchmark for the genre for many. I'd like to play it this year and maybe let it be my 'relaxing' game if I liked it enough. I also want to try the many mods that have been made for it.
Estimated Playtime: 60~ Hours-

Honorable Mentions

I'm already near the end of the visual novel Danganronpa V3. I'm slowly reading it for the past few months. I also started playing Final Fantasy X at the end of last year, and I'm 10 hours in. Looking to beat it this month.

There are a few games on my backlog that I didn't mention above as relatively, I'm less interested in finishing them. God Eater, Phantom Brave and Portal to name a few. If I increased my weekly playtime, I hope to play them too.

What do you think?

Those are all the games that I can think of on top of my head. I'm sure a lot of good games will release in the year. What games are you excited for?

What do you think of my games list? It's mostly RPGs. Huh? I wonder if I'll really play or finish these games as I change my mind pretty quickly.

Well, my tastes are pretty unique and most of these games are relatively old. But I'm surprised you haven't heard of Assassin's Creed.
