Web 2.0 or Web 3.0; My Take On Mass Adoption.

Good day to you all in the LeoFinance community.

The world and advanced technology have made things easier and faster. The improved way is just a good definition of our modern world and the revolution of the internet from the early 2000 as an advanced system of today has been so inspiring.

The adoption of the internet in its early phase was quite remarkable. The journey from Web 1 which was the read-only internet was succeeded by Web 2. The new era of the internet which accommodates more of the read-and-write internet was way better and improved than the former. This brought about the emergence of social media and it became a massive adoption with the use of mobile phones which made it even easier to access the internet.

Facebook and some other media have paced this new use of the internet and also allow the revolutionary system of social networking and the ability to create and share real-time text, photos, videos, and audio. But all of these were owned and controlled by a central body who had sole access to all of the details from the users.

Another successor of the Web 2 platform was the web3 platform which promised users a better way of reading, writing, and also owning an internet of their own without the need for a third party and this is what could be termed the decentralized world.

Web 3 also brought along the internet and uses a lot of advanced technology in the form of blockchains, NFTs, and cryptocurrency as a means of giving back to the users the sole ownership of their identities, digital assets,, data, and contents. But there are just a few people who are aware of this great opportunity thereby a lot of them are well aware of Web 2 and got a lot more familiar with the interface finding it difficult to embrace the new and improved system.

Why mass adoption is needed for Web 3

If I were asked some years back about a system where I would have to create my content, monetize my accounts, and be the sole owner of my assets without the aid of a central body. I would say NO that can't be possible. But just a matter of time I got to know what it takes to have a decentralized system existing and at the same time getting to know more about the difference between the two interfaces.

It wasn't easy to get used to this system but with time I realized it was even way better than I thought. This is one reason why there should be some kind of adoption into the web3 system and getting the world to know more about the benefits of embracing this system.

This system never gets the awareness it deserves though it can't come up at once but gradually. It should be made clear through the existing interface which is Web 2 since they are both working with the same internet and using the same mobile devices. Awareness of the features the web 3 would provide should be made. Account protection, trustlessness, permissionlessness, and personalization made this technology more beneficial, believable, and less biased.

I remember on my end when I always tried to bring people to the new way of technology on the web3. They wonder why I don't get to use my Facebook or even have a TikTok account. The very moment I got to know about the web3 interface was when I abandoned most Web 2-related apps on my devices.

After getting to explain all it takes to embrace the system, it's still a little sad that a lot of people don't even know the real use and technical advantages it has brought to them.

Hive as a case study, I tell and explain to people how they can monetize their passion through the use of various communities and the transparency they get to experience using the system compared to the Web 2 interface where their data are not secured and could be removed or locked out at any point in time. In addition, their data are not safe and could even be used to customize advertisements, and those in control profit from it.

For example, Facebook is controlled by a body that controls all the affairs and accounts on the platform. He can also decide to shut down any account or ban accounts from using the platform. This is why there is a pure difference between the centralized system and the decentralized system. And more of a reason why I admit and agree with the fact that mass adoption has to be made. It might take time to embrace this finally with the pace at which blockchain technology, the advanced internet, and the crypto space is improving. I believe between the time frame from now till 2030 the world will have got to know more about the use of Web 3 and mass adoption will come to pass.
