An Enemy of Technology and Internet Security

Good day to you all in the LeoFinance community.

In the world we live in today people are not always ready to work but just to keep reaping from where they never sowed. It’s always so painful that after some people already worked so hard to earn income through their businesses or as an employee who gets paid in salary or wages, someone out there is ready to be the owner of those hard-earned funds without getting to know the sacrifices and what it takes to get there.

Our generation and technology have made things even easier to work around with. But the more we get to see the opportunities coming from these angles, so there are loads of its bad sides too. Technology brought about the innovation of blockchain, the use of the internet, social media, cryptocurrency, and many more. They brought about a lot of opportunities to the universe and also gave chances for users to acquire improved ways.

On the other hand, some backers are ready to get their way through this good territory of improved technology. They happen to be hackers, scammers, internet frauds, and fake scheme makers. These are some more reasons to get people disappointed with online earnings through their theft ways. There are a lot of websites out there created all in the name of empowering people and making them earn from their homes, thereby the real intention behind the website is to attract traffic and also extract personal details from users.

Some fraudsters go down to the extent of creating fake pages where users would see a fake amount of their earnings on the so-called platform then they give a stipulated time for withdrawal. If users are to withdraw their funds then they would have to input their card details for deposit and withdrawal. As soon as their details are sent, the third party gains full access to their accounts and then withdraws all funds from the account. These are a series of events that get people to pay less interest and lose trust in online earnings because the real and sure-paying ones among them are rare to come by.

Even for the paying websites, a lot of care had to be taken not to fall into the hands of hackers. They have a lot of tricky ways to set up bait for users. I remembered the recent hack on the Leofinance discord. No one saw that coming or was expecting to see that happen. But those bad guys found their way in, playing like they were the admin of the community and tricked people into getting their wallet details to claim some sort of fake and unreal airdrop.

It would be a little easier to detect for experienced and old-time users, but for some newbies, that would have been a little harder and probably they would fall into the hands of these guys.

My experience

I remembered my first and last experience with a scammer who got through to me successfully. The mistake was from my end as I wasn’t patient enough to read through the telegram channel chats but I scrolled to the end. They've been sending warning messages since morning but I didn’t notice. I opened the chatroom and requested sales. Following the normal procedure and the channel rules both trades should be through an escrow as DM trades are at the owner's risk.

After a few minutes of the announcement, I was about to transfer the tokens to the verified buyer’s account when I saw a DM from the group admin asking to buy my tokens at a little higher price. I was surprised and felt it should have been a scam, but greediness, the group admin’s name, and the higher price made me fall victim.

I sent him all my tokens in anticipation of my funds but all I saw on our chats was his last seen 3 years ago. That was when I realized my mistakes. I checked the blockchain and saw my transactions and those of many others who fell victim. All we could see was the address, there was no way to identify the culprit.

Conclusion

Scammers are real and are almost everywhere, even the closest to us, all they await is perfect timing. So it's best to avoid taking risks and follow the normal process. Keep secret phrases secret and avoid inputting your passwords just anywhere unless from trusted and licensed authorities. Most of all, try as much as possible to have a mentor and learn through them.
