The great sea shortcut

Hello friends, good evening, a hug from a distance and I hope you are well, today I want to share a set of images that I captured from the Panama Canal, the great shortcut as they call it, which joins the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in a short distance. More than eight hours approximately, but a two-week journey through Cape Horn saves a boat.

This route, with more than a hundred years in operation and which was started by the French but whose attempt failed due to various factors, was finished by the Americans and inaugurated in 1914, has great relevance in world maritime transport since many vessels use it and thus save time on your travels.

In 2016, it inaugurated its third set of locks in order to meet the great demand for vessels whose dimensions exceeded the original locks, which in themselves did not have the capacity for the new vessels. Today, approximately 35 boats pass by daily and annually bring foreign currency to Panama of more than one billion dollars.

The Panama Canal is a place visited by many visitors of other nationalities in order to learn about the operation of this feat of engineering that challenged the climate and mother nature of Panama, a very challenging and somewhat harsh climate during its construction.

The Panama Canal is one of the most important maritime works because of the time savings it generated since its creation, I had not seen many photos of it but I do know a little of its history so I am quite happy to see your photos!
