The biological name of Anura is derived from the combination of two Greek words meaning without (“an”) and animal tail (“ura”). There are more than 7,000 recognized species of these amphibians spread out across some 31 diverse families. Almost 90% of all amphibians exist within this classification.

"Frog" is an order tailless and short bodies amphibians. Also with webbed digits and protruding eyes.

Frogs are largely carnivorous.

Anura includes that of frogs and also toads.

Anurans have nine or fewer presacral vertebrae.

Frogs typically have long legs and smooth mucus covered skin as compared to toads which have short legs and rough skin.
