Phone Addiction: Is The Phone The Issue Or Me?

PHONE ADDICTION AND ITS EFFECT ON THE MENTAL HEALTH OF HUMANS.

Hello fam #scifimultiverse, I am happy to welcome you again to my blog. On this week’s prompt, I will begin by saying that a phone is a device meant for communication; it is a dummy when not in use, just like any technology component.
While addiction simply means that an individual is so used to something that it becomes uncontrollable to them.

Phone addiction has become a global challenge. I fact-checked the rate and confirmed an addiction rate of over 78% in my country of origin, with 84% of phone ownership. In churches today, most documents used during services are accessed via phone, making it very easy for worshippers to flip through social media during the service and diverting their attention.

Recently, I watched a video where female ushers walk around during the service to seize phones from worshippers. This shows the rate of addiction we are facing. The families are not spared. I have burnt things I am cooking because I was carried away with my phone. The schools have had issues with parents whose children were caught with phones during school hours. The drivers are not spared in this matter, as the traffic management authority in my state of residence has arrested several drivers for breaking the law of making calls while driving. Some have led to accidents and loss of lives.

Furthermore, I have personally seized phones from employees who sneak them into the production floor. This is because it has caused several accidents, with some employees having permanent disability and others deep scars.
The list can go on. I have literally collided with individuals pressing phones on the road. It isn't pleasant when it’s adults who are in the majority of this list.

The effects include loss of eyesight, less availability, care, and love. Some couples have had emotional challenges where they accuse their partner of spending more time on their phones than they partner. The same is applicable in families where they live like aliens because of the phone addiction.

Additionally, individuals prefer to stay glued to their phones and forget other important things or rituals in their lives, like reflecting and praying. They live a carefree life from day to day until an incident strikes. Then, you will see them running helter-skelter to God or start seeking human assistance.

The phone is one of the best inventions for the human race, but with it also came challenges. The way out will include setting timers and boundaries, starting from the family setting. There should be parental control for the children and teenagers, as per their time out and usage time.

Most importantly, I think that self-control is the best tool. I once avoided some social platforms for about five months. Afterwards, I limited my use of the social platforms, especially when they are not for business purposes.

In conclusion, all hands must be on deck to checkmate this good omen before it turns into a bad omen for us.
